Wayne B. Hamilton
Wayne B. Hamilton died peacefully with family at his bedside in Richmond, VA on January 31, 2023 at the age of 77. Wayne is survived by his three children; son, Jeffrey Hamilton (Christy), daughter, Heather Szczesniak, and son Zachary Hamilton; siblings, brother Steve Hamilton (Judy), brother Guy Hamilton (Nancy), brother Mark Hamilton (Dee), brother Matt Hamilton (Cindy), and sister Lisa Kohout (Vern); seven grandchildren, and a great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Lorraine Hamilton, and brother Randy Hamilton.
He was born March 18, 1945 in Vancouver, Canada, and emigrated to the United States at the age of 4. He graduated from Foster High School in 1963 where he was named Tolo Dance King for that year. He served in the US Army for 3 years where he was awarded The National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Marksman (Rifle), and Purple Heart for being wounded in Vietnam. He spent the majority of his career working for the Social Security Administration as an Audio-Visual Technician. He enjoyed video production and editing, traveling, the outdoors, poker, the Seattle Seahawks, and sharing a laugh and good conversation with family and friends. He was compassionate, humble, and brought joy and laughter to those around him. He was passionate about serving his country and honoring other veterans.
He will be honored February 21, 2023 at Eline-Yahn & Covington funeral chapel at 11:00am. There will also be a service at Tahoma National Cemetery to follow at 12:30pm with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Wounded Warrior Project in his honor.
