Tony Zilic

Tony Zilic, 56, of King George, Virginia passed on September 25th, 2023. Born on June 2nd, 1967, in Elgin, Illinois, Tony was the beloved son of Estella Zilic and the late Anthony Michael Zilic Sr. He is survived by his children, Rachael Zilic and Matthew Zilic, his mother Estella Zilic, his sister Ann Manley, and his uncles, John, Paul and Tom, and one aunt Marianne. He was preceded in death by his father, his grandparents and one aunt. Tony graduated from Griggsville Highschool in Griggsville, Illinois. He furthered his education at Western Illinois University where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Physics with a focus on Optics. Throughout his career, Tony made significant contributions in various fields. He began his career with Marconi EEV Inc in New York, where he excelled in sales and served as an Applications Engineer, specializing in Commercial Imaging Medical Uses. Later, Tony joined the United States Naval Department, where he worked as a Scientist/Project Lead in the Combat Systems Cybersecurity Technology/Engineering Branch. He also served in the Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division, Chief Technology Office Staff in Dahlgren, Virginia. Tony was a devoted member of the Roman Catholic faith. Outside of his professional life, he had a deep passion for all things related to computers. From computer games to coding, Tony’s expertise was unmatched. He was always there to assist his mother in navigating the complexities of the internet. Additionally, Tony had a keen interest in Astronomy. He owned several telescopes and spent countless nights gazing at the planets and stars above. In memory of Tony Zilic, contributions can be made to the family. Please join us in celebrating the life of Tony Zilic and cherishing the memories he leaves behind.

A funeral mass will be held on October 6th , 2023 at 1:30pm at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception in Fredericksburg, Virginia at the corner of Stafford and William Street. No visitation will follow. A second service will be held in Illinois at a later date.

    Tony will bring greatly missed by family, friends, and work family members at NSWC Dahlgren. His heart and dedication to duty was exceptional to the US, US Navy, and all warfighters.
