
Thomas Henry Manor
Thomas “Henry” Manor, 65, died peacefully at home January 16, 2025 surrounded by his wife, Dianne, and his siblings, Kim, Richard “Mack”, and Sue and his daughter Angela and granddaughter Astrid. He was born on October 3, 1960, in Hopewell, Virginia, the son of Paul M. and Irene Mildred Lackey Manor, who predeceased him.Henry and Dianne were members of Tikvat Israel Messianic Synagogue of Richmond. Henry played guitar as a member of the worship team at Tikvat.Before his illness, Henry worked as a truck driver for Builders Supply in Hopewell and N.B. Goodwyn.Henry was a locally well-known, very talented guitar player who played country, rock and roll, and gospel for 50 plus years. He also played piano, mandolin, Dobro and drums. Henry was also an exceptional artist painting several oil paintings of local landscapes and scenes, one of which is the little wooden out building at *Appomattox Manor in winter. He loved Civil War history and re-enactments. Henry and Dianne were married at Weston Manor in Hopewell in a civil ceremony dressed in costume on May 7, 1988. They celebrated 36 years of marriage last May.*What is the story about the little wood out building at Appomattox Manor?(The little wood outbuilding at Appomattox Manor is known as General Ulysses S. Grant’s headquarters cabin. During the Siege of Petersburg in 1864-65, General Grant used this cabin as his headquarters while commanding the Union Army. The cabin was constructed in November 1864 and was located on the east grounds of the manor.)Surviving family members are his wife, Dianne, his two daughters Angela (Daniel) Camp, Elizabeth (Brian) Williams, and seven grandchildren, Astrid, Leland, Wesley, Finnley, Lyra, Alex, and Reggie. Also surviving family members are his sister, Gloria Kim Grubb (Ronnie), Richard McClellan Manor (Ruth), Carol Sue Harmon (Bill) and several nieces annephews.
