Shawn Michael O’Connor, 48, died unexpectedly on Saturday, June 24th  2023 at Memorial Regional Medical Center. He was born on February 5, 1975 in Jacksonville, FL, the son of Michael Edward O’Connor and Karen Link O’Connor Bjordahl.

Shawn graduated from Lee Davis High School, Class of 1994. Following graduation, he served for 6 years with the US Navy during the Gulf War on the USS Enterprise in Avionics and Interior Communications.

After his honorable discharge, he received further training in Avionics and became a certified aircraft mechanic. He held several different positions in the airline industry. For the last 5 years he was an Aircraft Maintenance Training Instructor for Piedmont Airlines.

He was predeceased by his Uncle Arnold Niemi. He is survived by his Tabatha McKinley O’Connor and their son, Liam Shawn O’Connor, sister Brandy O’Connor Stiepleman, his aunt Patricia O’Connor Niemi, 3 nephews and 6 nieces.

A Memorial Service will be held at 4p.m. Friday, July 7^th at New Song UMC, 7450 Colts Neck Rd. Mechanicsville VA 23111. Flowers are welcome. Gifts in his memory may also be given to Ashland Little League, P.O. Box 870, Ashland VA 23005.
