Royal E. Wood
Royal E. Wood, 77, of Mechanicsville, VA, passed away January, 11 2024. He was born May 3, 1946 to John Wood and Carolyn Bauer Wood.
He is survived by his loving wife, Georgia, son, Scott Wood (Wendy), and grandchildren, Hunter and Katie, sisters, Susie Frith of Hampton, VA, Jan Marks of Blacksburg, VA, Nancy Ritchie of Timberville, VA, Patsy Rooks of Hampton, VA, Linda Schuszler of Yorktown, VA, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, John Wood and Carolyn Bauer Wood, and his son Steven Wood.
Royal graduated from Virginia Tech and was a life long Hokie, who loved to attend the football games.
He was a New Kent County Administrator, a plant manager at Truxmore Refuse Trucks in Richmond, VA, and a plant superintendent at Ondura in Fredericksburg, VA.
He was always a woodworker, building cabinets, bookcases and many other things, but the always wanted to turn wood. When he retired he got a lathe and joined the Richmond woodturning club in Richmond, VA. As he got good at it, he had to start doing craft shows to make room to make new items. He REALLY enjoyed the shows, as he loved to speak to people about wood used and answer questions about the different bowls and cutting boards he produced.
He was loved very much and will be missed.

I am having the hardest time believing our friend have pasted on to another part of life’s spiritual journey.
I ‘m so glad we (my family) got to share food and exchange Christmas gifts on Friday, December 29, 2023 with Royal, Georgiann and Sherry. We had so much fun even though Royal was moving a little slower.
We have been friends for over 25 years and Royal was the quite energy in the group whenever we were all together.
Royal will always have a special place in my heart and thoughts.
May the love and light of the Almighty GOD fall fresh on you today and always my friend.
Royal was a gentle and wonderful person and my heat goes out to his family who lost a great guy.
Oh, I am sorry at Royals passing. He was a devoted husband and will be missed by all

I worked with Royal for a very long time at Nuline/Ondura/Onduline. He was a quiet fellow with an easy smile and genuine “take me as I am” personality. I always enjoyed chatting with him especially about his woodworking hobby, one we shared. Prayers for his family and all who loved him. He will be missed.
