Ronald “Ronnie” T. Altizer

Ronald “Ronnie” T. Altizer passed away peacefully at home on December 18, 2021 surrounded by family.

Ronnie is survived by his wife, Deborah Altizer; children, Roxanna, Ronnie and Russell Altizer: grandchildren Kendra and Jacy Bess and Alexis Altizer. He is preceded in death by his parents Russell and Billie Altizer; brothers Randy, Rusty and Roger Altizer. 

Ronnie was born on April 13, 1952 in West Virginia. In his lifetime, he was a professional drummer for several local bands in the Virginia area. He had passion for playing horseshoes where he was a long time member of National Horseshoe Pitchers Association. Throughout his pitching career, he won numerous championships and earned many titles and trophies over the years. Ronnie’s favorite hobbies included being outdoors, camping, and spending time with his family.

Ronnie was a hardworking welder for nearly 40 years. When his welding days were done, he ultimately became a school bus driver for Hanover County Public Schools. He loved his coworkers and adored the children in his care. This is the one job in his life that he truly enjoyed doing and looked forward to each day.

Visitation has been scheduled for December 23, 2021 from 10:00am-1:00pm at Glen Allen Church of Christ located at 11064 Staples Mill Road. The funeral service will follow the visitation and be held from 1:00pm-2:00pm. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Ronnie’s life. He loved people and wanted a big celebration.
