Richie (Ricky) Allen Sexton

On October 22, 2023, Richie (Ricky) Allen Sexton went to be with Lord. Ricky was born on July 13, 1964, in Richmond, Virginia, where he spent most of his life. He enjoyed the Washington Commanders football team, wrestling, motorcycles, and airplanes. Ricky took pride in his various jobs throughout his lifetime, and he was a very hard worker. He loved helping others- especially the kittens that lived near his neighborhood.

Ricky was predeceased by his mother, Betty Lou Swann, whom he loved very dearly.

He is survived by his father, David (Ann) Sexton, his sister, Donna (Andre) LaBelle; his brothers, Andy (Ashley) Sexton, Cody Smith, and Chris (Shelby) Swann. He also leaves behind his three children, Jacob Sexton, Justin Sexton, and Candice Sexton, as well as several nieces and nephews.

This service will be held privately. Please keep Ricky’s family in your thoughts and prayers.

“…When the shadows of this life have gone, I’ll fly away like a bird from prison bars has flown. I’ll fly away, I’ll fly away, oh glory, I’ll fly away. In the morning when I die, Hallelujah, by and by, I’ll fly away. Just a few more weary days and then I’ll fly away to a land where joy shall never end. I’ll fly away.”

I met Ricky three years ago and got to know him well. He was direct, caring, charitable, forgiving and tough as nails. He was a good host and would give the shirt off his back to help a friend in need. His hospitality could be boundless. While Ricky was often kind to others, he had plenty of grit. He could be a jackass but for those of us who called him a friend, he’ll be sorely missed.
