Nancy Lucas Patterson
Nancy Lucas Patterson died in Henrico County, Virginia, on January 7, 2022, at the age of 73. She is survived by her sister Ann McDaniel, her daughter Marjie (David Weinfeld), granddaughter Opal, longtime companion Carl Schluter, Carl’s sister Marilyn Schluter, niece Holly Shrader (Greg), great-nieces Amanda Peters (Justin) and Kayla Shrader, and great-grandnephew Nate Peters. She also leaves behind many beloved members of the Patterson Family and numerous great friends.
Nancy was born on June 18, 1948, in Clifton Forge, VA, to Donna and Earl Lucas. She was a longtime employee of Dominion and a devoted congregant of Gayton Road Christian Church.
Nancy was beloved by all who knew her. She was an incredibly loving, kind, and generous person, particularly in her capacity as a mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was a great caretaker of friends and strangers alike and a model of how to love and do for others.
For Nancy, arts and crafts were a hobby that enabled her to express her generosity. Maybe you were lucky enough to receive one of her homemade Christmas cards, or even luckier to make them with her on Thanksgiving.
Nancy loved country music, traveling, Hallmark movies, lighthouses, and good-looking men. Along with having a beautiful soul, she was capable of devilish fun! In her later years, she finally shared stories of her youthful adventures with her daughter, who at last understood where her wild side came from. Nancy was fiercely independent yet deeply immersed in the lives of her family and friends. Her heart was full of warmth and love, and her very presence inspired all those around her. She is irreplaceable and will forever be missed.
There will not be a funeral service at this time. If you are so moved, please donate to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital in her memory: https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html

I always loved Nancy and thankful that Margie sent something out early last week for us to send messages to read to her. It broke my heart to hear this but there is no doubt she is well now and in a better place, HE prepared for those who accept him. She always had the biggest smile and I will always cherish and be grateful for the time we worked together. Praying for Margie, Carl , Opal ,Nancy’s sister and for all who knew and loved Nancy. I know God will give strength and comfort during this difficult time. 🙏
