Mildred Edwards

Mildred Lee Edwards, “Millie”, age 95, of Glen Allen, VA, passed away on Sunday, August, 7, 2022.

Born on July 29, 1927 in Petersburg, VA, and raised in Hopewell, VA, Millie was the daughter of the late Paul Logan Meadows, Sr. and Pearl Hudgins Meadows. She was preceded in death by her brother, Paul Logan Meadows, Jr., her sister, Jean Meadows Janosik, and her grandson, Ryan Wayne Middleton.

Millie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, Lyle Edwards. In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Ronald Lee Middleton (Darlene), and Charles Wayne Middleton (Linda), as well as her daughter, Paula Taddeo (Tony); six grandchildren, Shelby Morris (Stanley), Kellie Middleton, Karen Brock (Bobby), Ryan Middleton (Kristen), Sophie Stephenson (Nathan), and Gabi Taddeo; and 7 great-grandchildren. Millie is also survived by her sister, Ruth England, her sister-in-law, Carole Popaden, as well as many nieces and nephews.

Millie retired from Hofheimer’s Shoes in July 1992 after 35 years of retail service to children and their families. Her love of helping others led to volunteer work with the American Red Cross at Park West Hospital in Knoxville, TN as well as at Cedar Bluff Primary School.

Millie shared her appreciation of sports with family and friends, often enjoying time at little league baseball games, Norfolk Tides games, and ODU basketball games.

Her hobbies included bowling, sewing, macrame, crocheting, needlework, card games, and word search puzzles.

The family would like to thank the staff of Bon Secours Hospice for their support in Millie’s care.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date.
