Kathryn Fette Morales
Kathie was called home in her sleep on Friday, October 14, at the age of 63. She was the daughter of Rev. Walter and Anne Fette, both of whom proceeded her in death. She was born in Brooklyn, NY, and moved with her family to Bowling Green, VA, when she was a baby. She grew up there and graduated from Bowling Green Sr. High School. She continued her education at Virginia Commonwealth University. She spent most of her work career in sales and customer service, working in the hotel industry for many years and most recently as a customer support manager for Record Guardian Technologies. Her outgoing personality carried on after she could no longer work, and she spent quite a bit of time posting long missives and photos on social media and corresponding with her friends by e-mail.
Kathie spent quite a bit of her life in the Bowling Green Pentecostal church, which was led by her parents. She was a wonderful piano player, and enjoyed playing and singing along with church hymns. She was also a great cook, and loved to prepare holiday meals for her family. She was an avid animal lover, and always had her beloved dogs and cats at her side.
Kathie had a number of physical challenges from a young age. She spent the last five years of her life at the Parham Rehabilitation & Healthcare Center in Richmond. Through it all, she never lost her sense of humor, and her constant refusal to give up made her an inspiration to all who knew her. Her last pet, Loki the cat, was a light in her life during the most daunting of her challenges.
Kathie is survived by her brother Gordon, sister in law Trina, nephews Joey (Courtnay) and Brad, grandniece Sasha, devoted lifetime friend Missy, church friends Brenda and Anne Marie, and a host of cousins and other friends.
Rest in peace Kathie, you fought the good fight, now you have that new body you always talked about.
A memorial service for Kathie will be held at a later date.
