Our beautiful loving Mother, Janie Sue Roach Barker of Chester, VA passed away suddenly at the age of 79 on April 16, 2023 at Tri-Cities Hospital in Hopewell, Virginia with her family by her side.  She was born in Axton, Virginia on January 26, 1944 to the late Jesse Neal Roach and Lena Robertson Roach.  She was married to the late James Fred Barker, Jr.  Janie is survived by her brother Jesse ‘Bootsie’ Roach (Bonnie).  She is preceded by her sister Betty Ann Roach Manning and her husband George (Jack) R. Manning, Sr.

Janie is survived by her son Richard James Barker (Donna), son Ronald Lee Barker (Tracy), daughter Rhonda Sue Barker (Todd).  Grandchildren, Nicholas (Kenzie), Megan (Johnny), Ronald (Kayla), Haylee (Jeremy), Taylor (Cody), Richard and Casey.  Great Grandchildren Kennedi Nichole, Riley Jolynn, Millie Grace, Addison Marie, Ronald Lee III, new precious little one on the way and another precious little one on the way Charlotte Lynn Sue (due 9-12-23), Ethan and Harper.  She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins. 

Janie worked at General Electric for many years.  But, her passion was working as a CNA Private Duty Nurse.  She absolutely loved being a nurse to her very sweet loving patients, whom also she called her friends.  Janie also loved to Garden.  She loved to take care of her flowers.  You would find her watering her garden on many occasions when you would stop by to see her and don’t even think there was not a Western Movie on.  She knew every actors name in those Old Western Movies and all about their lives.   She also loved and adored her family so much.  Each year Christmas Eve was celebrated at her home in Chester, Virginia and her entire family was always there.  She enjoyed her Grandchildren and her Great Grandchildren so much.  She would always have a bright beautiful smile on her face whenever she was around them and you could hear it in her voice when she would speak of them.

Our Mother is so missed and our hearts are definitely broken.  Our family will come together and always be there for one another no matter what.  That was one of our late Mothers’ wishes. 

A Celebration of her life will be held on May 13, 2023 at 3:00 pm at her residence in Chester, VA.  Please contact family for address.  We hope everyone will come and Celebrate our beautiful Mother for she would want everyone to smile, eat and Celebrate her.
