Herbert Oliver Mason

Herbert Oliver Mason – “Ollie”, 91, passed away peacefully, at Blue Ridge Senior Living, on December 1, 2024. He was born on May 30, 1933, in Hopewell, VA and resided in Chesterfield County for most of his life. He served in the Army during the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion. He loved life and loved making others smile. He  was a witty and a fun loving jokester. He was a wonderful Father, “Pops” and Papa. He cherished time spent with his family and beloved pets. He also enjoyed sports, feeding the squirrels, playing the lottery, and taking rides by the James River and down Cary Street. He is survived by his daughter, Connie (Chip), his son, Troy (Martha), 5 grandchildren: Miranda Moss (Cody), Ryan Severson (Sydney), Hunter Mason, Jack Mason, Sydney Mason and 3 great grandchildren: Max, Wyatt, and Luca.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at Richmond Coach & Mortuary (8500 Staples Mill Road, Richmond, VA 23226). A Celebration of His Life will be held on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at Westhampton Memorial Cemetery (10000 Patterson Avenue, Richmond, VA 23238). Pops loved his Hawaiian shirts. The family encourages you to wear your favorite Hawaiian Shirt in his memory to either event. There will be a reception at Kindred Church (11700 Genito Road, Midlothian, VA 23112) after the celebration of life.
