Eolyn Ready Hansell
Eolyn Ready Hansell, born and raised in Richmond, peacefully went home to be with her Lord on Monday, July 12, 2021; she was 94. She was preceded in death by her parents, John B. Ready and Ira Mae “Phil” Ready; and her sister, Martha Leigh Ready Topping.
Mom to four kids: Phillip Hansell (Sylvia) of Pataskala, OH; Michael Hansell, of Richmond, VA; Douglas Hansell (BJ) of Burnsville, MN; Martha Hansell Pugh (Garrett) of Richmond, VA.
“Grandma Eo” to: Sean Hansell, and Leighanna Visintine (Paul) of Pataskala, OH; Kelly Hansell of Kernersville, NC; and Derek Hansell (Rachel) of Eagan, MN.
Great grandchildren include: Madison Meszaros and Layla Visintine of Pataskala, OH; Jeremiah and Phoenix Hansell of Kernersville, NC; and Caroline Hansell of Eagan, MN.
“Aunt Eo” to Peggy Sue Bondurant (Robert) of Newport News, VA, and David Topping (Bonnie) of Roanoke, VA.
Eolyn raised four kids but always welcomed plenty more into her home for the most fun times; our house was “the Happening Place!” She loved to have a house full of love and laughter. Music was her lifelong passion and she was so proud to say she sang at Carnegie Hall under the direction of Eugene Ormandy with the Philadelphia Orchestra. She instilled a strong appreciation for music in all of her kids, no matter how much she disliked our rock-n-roll. Just as her parents did, she made sure her children knew the importance of a Life that includes Faith in Jesus Christ.
A graveside memorial celebration will take place at 12 Noon on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at Westhampton Memorial Park (10,000 Patterson Ave) with a reception to follow in Flamming Hall at Richmond’s First Baptist Church, 2709 Monument Ave, Richmond.
The family would like to express our appreciation to Dr. Tejas Raiyani and the St. Mary’s 5-South staff for Eolyn’s exceptional care while she was a guest in June; also, to the whole Bon Secours Hospice TEAM that provided the best support we could ever have expected during the 17 days she was in your care. Thank you, Casey, Jennifer, Ann, Michelle, James, Jeff, Jan, Laura and Erin. You helped make this difficult time more manageable.
In lieu of flowers, you may choose to donate to Richmond’s First Baptist Church via the website www.FBCRichmond.org. You may designate the Music Ministry in the “comments,” or select Community Missions or the Food Pantry from several ministry options.

To the family of sweet Ms. Hansell!
I am so sorry to hear of her passing and was just thinking I am so thankful to have known her. Just a lovely, spirited person and you couldn’t help but smile when you talked with or visited her. When we talked a few weeks ago, she sounded upbeat and we were talking about the new management team at Imperial Plaza.
She was a great co-worker and an even better friend – she will be missed by so many.
If I can do anything for your family, please don’t hesitate to ask.
My deepest condolences to you all.
Lynn was such a wonderful neighbor, friend! She treated me like a daughter when I would come to sit and visit, we talked about life, family, and had many laughs! Such a good person and very big heart! I sure loved her! God speed Love! We will meet again! Love you Lynn!!! ❤️
