Daniel Wayne Melton
Daniel Wayne Melton, precious baby boy of Chad Melton and Chelsea Quay, left this world on Monday, July 18, 2022 to rest in eternal peace in the arms of his Lord and Savior. Born at 2:12pm on June 24, 2021, Daniel weighed 4 lbs 14 oz and was 16.5 inches long. During his brief time on Earth, Daniel experienced overwhelming love from all who knew him and touched so many with his strength and fight. Daniel created an abundance of memories with those who loved him and shared his immense love with us all without ever needing to utter a word.
Daniel was greeted in Heaven by his great-grandparents; Charles Melton, Mary Melton, Katherine Hogue, Russell Whitmer, Donald Quay, and Vivian Quay, great aunt; Debra Brandt, great uncle; Wayne Quay, and cousin; Jonathan Peters.
In addition to his parents, Daniel continues to be cherished and loved on Earth by his grandparents; Ken Wade, Laura Wade, Charlie Melton, and Carolee Quay, great-grandparents; Marvin Hogue, Lois Grier, Jack (Carol) Wade, and Merikay (Gerald) Harbel, aunts and uncles; Tiffany (Justin) Sand, Mary Katherine (Aaron) Pierson, Brittany (Gregory) Denny, Tyler Wade (Gracie Gresham), William Melton (Sydney Wells), and Nicole Quay; his many cousins and extended family.
A celebration of Daniel’s life will be planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Children’s Hospital of Richmond at VCU.

Oh sweet boy, there are no words for everything we wish to say. Mama and Daddy love you so much! If our love could have saved you, you would have lived forever. We are so proud of you. You were so strong, but God saw you getting tired and gave you your much needed rest. We think of you and miss you every day. We hope you’re having so much fun walking, and talking, and playing up there in Heaven with all the friends and family that were waiting up there for you. You’re in our hearts, always, Bug!
We want to thank all of Daniel’s medical and therapy team, most of whom were from VCU Children’s Hospital, from the bottom of our hearts. They did everything they could to help our beautiful angel, and we will never forget them.
We want to say a very special thank you to Daniel’s patient advocate, Jan Kirby, who provided us with more help and support than we could even have imagined throughout the entire time we have known her. She was and continues to be such a blessing to us.
Rest peacefully, Daniel, we will see you again!
