Carolyn Burchette

Carolyn Burchette aged 51 transitioned to be with her Heavenly Father August 12th, 2023.
She was born December 27th 1971 only child to Edna Mae Burchette (Evans) and Algenie Burchette she spent majority of her childhood in Churchill attending George Mason Elementary school, Mosby middle school, and Armstrong high school. Following high school she had plans to become a nurse in the United States Army but God had other plans. She has a son named Jordan to which she dedicated every waking second of her life to. Putting her dreams on hold. But as she once told me “Jordan you’re my dream”.

Carolyn was one feisty person but also caring. She would always be willing to lend an ear to whomever. She never judged. One of her favorite sayings were “Do you want the real or do you want me to sugar coat it?”, she often spent time with herself watching murder mysteries, scary movies or documents. She was a wordsmith in her own right. Even making me read the dictionary for hours on end to earn video game time. And she NEVER missed an opportunity to get her hair and nails “did” never. One of her fondest and happier moments was when she was apart of the Jewels 💎 bike club. Oh how she loved being apart of that group with her big cousin Fannie Davis and she still has her jacket to show for it.

In her younger years she liked to go out and have fun with her partner in crime Nikita Atkinson that was and always will be her best friend and sister. She loved loved her some Mary J. Blige and LL Cool J! She used to play her songs daily even going to a few concerts. She always talked about her first concert ever was with her big cousin Larry, she always remembered that because she was so happy to be spending time with him.

As an adult she worked for the state of Virginia for 20 plus years mainly in payroll and Human Resources earning many certifications in that time. In her time there she was able to meet life long friends and family as well. But the job she loved the most was at the Laurels at Willow Creek. She smiled everyday coming home to tell me about her day at work. She always knew how to uplift others despite what she was going through.

Carolyn gained her wings August 12, 2023. She is survived by her loving and Devoted Son only son Jordan Abernathy (wife Raven LaVette-Abernathy); child’s Father Charles “Chip” Abernathy; God son Dramell Tyreese Mason and Zion Abernathy; sons she adopted along with way; Jobe C. Lang Jr., Kehinde Esparza, RaShard Byrd, and Dominique Shannon. Nephew and niece; Thomas Eugene Alston and Dehja Atkinson. A host of her favorite cousins; Fannie Burwell (Davis), Alfreda Davis, Latoya Davis, Starshene Davis, Larry Davis, Dennis and Marie Davis (and all of their children respectfully) Special family friends she looked to as sisters and brothers; Nikita Atkinson, Jennete Anderson aka Pebbles, ToShawn Webber Harriet Tart-Allen; Aqueelah Wheeler; Albertina Jones; Natisha Hargrove and Rose Hackley; Randy Abernathy, Thomas Abernathy, and Ricky Williams her sons uncles. She is proceeded in death by her mother Edna Mae Burchette Evans; father Algenie Burchette; grandmother Fannie Evans; her favorite Aunt Lucy Bell Evans-Davis ; Uncle Elijah “sonny boy” Evans; and Devoted cousin Tyrese Lamont Davis. She will be truly missed and loved by all.
