Barry Dalton Barrett, Jr
Barry Dalton Barrett Jr., 38, of Mechanicsville, VA died May 19, 2021. His loss was completely unexpected and the family is shocked and deeply saddened.
He is survived by: mother Mary Lou Barrett, partner Honor Brooks, children Jackson, Abby, and Max Barrett, and family members Twyla Neil, Jessica, Kent, John and Des Barrett. He is preceded in death by Little Suzie in her carriage.
Barry was born on June 25, 1982 in Richmond, VA.
Some of his many accomplishments include graduating The Governor’s School of Richmond, VA in 2000 and The Richmond Electricians Apprenticeship in 2019, completing the program at the top of his class and receiving 1 of 25 Outstanding Apprentice awards for all of Virginia from the Department of Labor and Industry.
Barry was truly the most generous and kind man, who took pride in his work and family. Spending time with his kids and family was the most important thing to him. Being a dedicated and fun father, his dream was to travel with the kids and show them everything the world has to offer. His first trip was driving cross-country with Jackson, Abby, and Max on a 5-week camping trip to Alaska.
One of his greatest achievements was being temporarily sworn as a doctor and pharmacist for the state of Louisiana to aid the victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Barry was a proud member of the IBEW Local 666. He was just starting to leave his mark and impression on the industry by teaching for the Richmond Electricians’ Joint Apprenticeship Training Committee. His eagerness to teach was just one of the many reasons that made him stand out.
Given Barry’s sense of humor, he would be cringing at the seriousness of this announcement. His memorial service will be held at 5pm Friday, June 25, 2021 at the IBEW Local 666 Union Hall, 1400 East Nine Mile Road, Highland Springs, VA 23075. He would enjoy his family and friends sharing “Barry-isms” during this difficult time.
The family would like to thank the Surgical ICU nurses at Henrico Doctors Hospital, Richmond, Virginia who took exceptional and loving care of Barry and his family members during this time.
