Henry Coleman Wickham, Jr.

Henry Coleman Wickham Jr., of Sandston, Virginia, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025 at the age of 83. Born on June 21,1941, he lived a life filled with love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the simple things.

Henry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 58 years, Deloris Goodman Wickham; parents, Henry Coleman Wickham, Sr. and Ione Margaret Anderson Wickham; and two sisters, Pauline Wickham Green and Gertrude Wickham Raynor. He is survived by two daughters; Terri Wickham Mothershead (Troy), Chris Wickham Franklin (James), and son, Henry Coleman Wickham, III (Mary). He cherished his grandchildren, Meredith Brooks (Matthias), Sam and Noah Franklin, and great granddaughter, Sterling. He leaves behind many other family members and friends who will miss him dearly.

Henry grew up in Richmond and the surrounding areas where he attended Highland Springs High School. Most of his youth was spent playing sports, where he excelled at baseball, playing on Baltimore Orioles affiliate teams in the minor league. As an adult through his strong work ethic, he became a successful and respected land surveyor for over 40 years. His love for the water drew him to Nags Head, Myrtle Beach, and the “Rivah,” where he found peace and joy in fishing, boating, and beautiful sunsets. Henry had many interests, including participating in bowling and softball leagues at Corinth Methodist Church, relic hunting, and a love for peanut M&Ms. A sports enthusiast, Henry watched all sports, but was a loyal fan of the Washington Redskins and an avid NASCAR follower, particularly cheering on Dale Earnhardt. In his later years, he took great pride in the maintenance of his property and could be found on his zero turn lawn mower for hours removing debris and sticks in his yard, which was affectionately known as “Wickham Park.”

Henry never met a stranger. His warm smile and genuine interest in others made him a friend to all. He was an upstanding man, known for his integrity and kindness. Henry’s memory will be cherished by all who knew him.
