Rommel Sales, born on September 30, 1970, in Quezon City, Philippines, passed away on November 30, 2024, in Richmond, VA, surrounded by his loving family. He was 54 years old. Rommel was the beloved husband of Leanie Sales, with whom he shared 23 wonderful years of marriage. He was the cherished father of Caitlin Sales, a devoted son to Cristina Sales, a dear brother to Joanna Sales, and a caring son-in-law to Cesar Regala. Rommel was predeceased by his father, Ernesto Sales, his sister, Mylene Sales, and his mother-in-law, Maria Luisa Regala.

A memorial mass to honor and celebrate Rommel’s life was held on December 9, 2024, at Saint Michael Catholic Church at Glen Allen, VA.

Rommel leaves behind a legacy of love, joy, and kindness that will never be forgotten. In his passing, the outpouring of love, support, and prayers revealed just how many lives he had touched. When he fell ill, friends, family, and acquaintances united in prayer for his healing, and the hospital staff who cared for him continued to check in and pray for him even during their personal time. Rommel had an extraordinary ability to inspire compassion and foster genuine connections, and those fortunate enough to have known him will always remember his gentle spirit, sincerity, and unwavering respect for others.

Rommel lived with a childlike wonder, exemplified by his deep passion for superheroes, particularly Superman. An avid collector of superhero memorabilia, he was well-known for his love of cosplaying at movie events—a joy he shared with family and friends, creating lasting memories for everyone around him.

To his family, Rommel was more than a superhero—he was a protector, a provider, and a source of unconditional love. His wife, Leanie, and daughter, Caitlin, deeply grieve his passing and will forever hold his memory as a source of strength and inspiration. Rommel’s genuine heart made the world a better and brighter place, and his absence leaves a void that can never be filled.
