MirAnda Mackin
Born May 16, 1983, the daughter of James and Leellyn Wood, MirAnda grew up in Connecticut with her older sister Angela, older brother Peter, and younger brother Thomas.
She moved with her family to Alabama in 1997, where she eventually became a dental hygienist, then met and married Steven Mackin. At a young age, MirAnda embraced the life of a military spouse, supporting herself and her children through multiple deployments and moves across the country, most notably to Alaska, where the family found an appreciation for the “Mayberry”-like atmosphere and outdoor adventures.
MirAnda was ever witty, friendly, and compassionate. As a long-time animal lover, MirAnda raised dogs, cats, and at one time, even a pig. Her compassion extended beyond four legged critters, as she opened her home not only to her niece Delaney, but also to foster children that needed support. No matter what was going on in her life MirAnda still found time throughout her busy schedule to keep in touch with many members of her growing family. Everyone knew MirAnda for her positive attitude, being described by her father as, “the most optimistic human on Earth, no matter the situation.”
MirAnda was an exceptional wife, mother, sister, cousin, and friend. She will be deeply missed.
