William James Marston

Marston, William James went peacefully to be with his Lord and Savior, August 23, 2024 surrounded by his family.  He was preceded by his parents Charles Richard and Virginia Marston. He is survived by his wife of 25 years Carolyn R. Marston, sons Tim (Tracy) and Chris (Susan), daughters Stacey Harris (Roger) and Stephanie Poitras (Michael), ten grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and brothers George (Debbi), Charles (Roxie), Robin, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was born in Johnson City, TN and never wanted to be too far away from his beloved mountains. Jim worked at The Grandfather Home for Children in Banner Elk, NC. He was a Boy Scout leader and a church youth group leader. He went on many mission trips and worked with Habitat for Humanity. He worked for many years at Camp Hanover and was so proud of his title “The Pancake Man”. He shared his love of Jesus and nature through his years of dedication to children.

He retired from VDOT after 37 years of service. He touched so many lives and will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held September 3rd from 4-6 p.m. and a Celebration of Life will be held September 4th at 2 p.m. at Lakeside Presbyterian Church 7343 Hermitage Road, Richmond, VA 23228 – there will be a reception in the fellowship hall following the service.
