Elizabeth Bernadette Murray, 76, of Brooklyn, NY, affectionately known as, Mrs. Liz, Ma, Grandma, Grand Grand, and Auntie went home to be with the Lord on Thursday April 25th 2024 in Richmond Virginia. She was a beacon of light and warmth in her family and  community to all who knew and loved her. Elizabeth was born to David and Sylvia Robinson on March 16, 1948 in Brooklyn, New York.  She was educated at St. Peter Claver catholic school in Bedford Stuyvesant Brooklyn. Elizabeth married her beloved and the late Leo Murray. She worked various jobs throughout her life. She worked as a receptionist for the designer Pierre Cardin, a receptionist for 3 different law firms the last being Schaefer, Khan and Dale, a telephone operator at the New York Telephone Company, She work on the 1st Impact project for Con Edison electric company, a proof operator at European American Bank, and retired from her job as a case manager for Rose House Catholic Charities after 19 years. Elizabeth was a dedicated mother first and foremost to Donna Edwards, Rashida McDuffie and Omar Murray. She treasured her children, grandchildren the late Alfred Jamal (Aj),  Omar Jr, Isaiah, Mark Anthony, Enrique, Asia, and great-granddaughter Yazmin and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grandma and Great Grandma and was affectionately known as Grand Grand. Elizabeth, had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh and feel at ease. She is remembered as a nurturing soul, always ready with a comforting word of faith. A talented arts and craftsman, avid gardener, and exceptional baker, Elizabeth’s famous Sweet Potato Pies and Pound Cakes, and lovingly knitted scarfs were the highlights of family gatherings. She leaves to cherish her memories with a host of family members and loved ones. Elizabeth Bernadette Murray, will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will continue to guide and inspire all who were blessed to know her.
