Linda Gayle Gibbs
Richmond – Linda G. Gibbs, 75, died peacefully on February 28, 2024, at her residence with her daughter and grandson by her side. She is predeceased by her loving husband, Richard C. Gibbs, and her parents Jesse Roop and Vera Roop (Stump). Surviving are her daughters, Monica Shui (husband, Oscar and son, Carson Sui), of Henrico, VA, and Angela Gibbs (daughters, Chelsea, and Alyshia Hodges) of Roanoke, VA; her sisters, Violet Spence and Rosemary Stanback, and brother, Lonnie Roop, all of Boones Mill, VA.
Linda had an infectious smile that would light up any room and she will be sorely missed by so many. She was in the first graduating class for RN at the Community Hospital School of Nursing, now known as Jefferson College of Health Science, in 1970. Devoting 40 years to helping others selflessly as a nurse, she continued to spread kindness and unwavering patience in Richmond, sharing her love in helping to raise her grandson, Carson, and always making others in her community smile, even until the very end.
Linda made some very special friends at Beth Shalom Gardens, including Robin Williamson, who shared many laughs, coffees, and words of endearment together. She loved Diet Dr. Pepper, and her love of crocheting and needle point were enjoyed by the many blankets she made for others. Linda will forever be remembered for selfless love and kindness and would want you to do something nice for someone else, as a tribute to her passing. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Heart Association in her memory.
There will be an informal celebration of life at 12:00 – 2:00pm on March 23, 2024, at Boonesmill Church of the Brethren fellowship hall.
