Francis Barger, 89, of Reedville, VA died peacefully at his home on Thursday evening, June 29, 2023. He is preceded in death by his former wife, Nancy Downey-Barger; parents, Samuel Horton and Mary Martha Cupp Barger; brothers, Lloyd Horton Barger, Samuel Edward Barger, James Cupp Barger; and sisters, Helen Barger Turner and Kathryn Barger-Comer. 

Francis was born at home on March 8, 1934 in Lexington, VA.  After full career with Dominion Power (VEPCO), Francis pursued additional careers with Colonial Transit and the Freelance Star before joining efforts with his long-time partner, April Stowe whom he formed a Cab Company the two of them enjoyed until recently. Francis also spent many years as a volunteer fire fighter in both Glasgow and Fredericksburg, VA. His passions were many; family, friends, parties, bowling, and games of many kinds.

Survivors include his two sons, Jeffrey Lee and Charles Benton Barger; two grandchildren, Jennifer Barger-Hitt and Jessica Barger-Massara; three great grandchildren, Grayson, Cayden and Julia; and one surviving sister Martha “Bell” Herbert of Richmond.
