Ingeborg Sieber Price
With sadness at her passing, but joy in celebrating 94 years of life, we mourn the passing of our beloved mother, Ingeborg Sieber Price. Inge left mortality on February 8, 2023 at Bon Secours Community Hospice in Midlothian, Va. A native of Germany, Inge most recently resided in Midlothian , VA, previously Vienna, VA, but most notably lived in Woodbridge , Va for 60 years.
Survived by daughters Heidi ( Bob) and Jennifer (Mike), 7 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren and 3 step great grandchildren, her sister Helga (Kurt), and many more extended family members.
Inge was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years Arthur Edward Price, her parents Maria and Max Schmalzried, and her sisters Siglinde Schmalzried and Heide Kollmann (Dagobert). We rejoice in their reunion!
Inge married Ed Price, an American soldier, in Germany as a post World War II bride. She was a devoted dog lover, lifetime learner, talented artist, seamstress, author, and quilter. Inge was a long time member of the Cabin Branch Quilters in Prince William County. She deeply enjoyed the friendships and many happy hours spent with the Quilt Guild, especially the “Tuesday and Thursday Bee” groups. As an accomplished artist, her favorite painting style was Rose Malen although she was also an accomplished landscape and portrait artist. Two of her portraits, Thomas Cokes and Francis Asbury, hung in the foyer of Cokesbury Methodist Church in Woodbridge, Virginia for years
Inge worked as a Bank and Insurance Manager for years. She admitted that her favorite time of the day was her lunch hour when she could meander around the cobblestone streets of Old Town Alexandria. She also enjoyed Colonial Williamsburg, Occoquan, and exploring any town steeped in history. Inge loved to travel. A few of her favorite destinations were her native Europe, exploring new American destinations, and she even enjoyed an adventurous tour of Russia.
Inge was ever curious, ever learning. As a young teenager during World War 2, Inge was the only English speaking German in the town they were sheltering in and thus became the only interpreter between the town government and the Occupying Allied Forces.
Inge’s sense of humour, wisdom, and unexpected one liners tucked into conversation and the always appreciated greeting cards she would send are often requoted in family conversations with fondness.
We would like to thank the amazing staff of Auburn Hill Senior Living for their friendship, kindness, and care, especially Ashley, Savannah, Steven, and Denise, as well as the wonderful staff of Bon Secours St Francis, and Bons Secours Community Hospice House.
