Shirley Fleenor Burger of Richmond, VA entered into life eternal with our Lord and Savior December 16, 2022. Born on September 5, 1940 in Bristol, VA, she was 82.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Lee Burger, her parents, Nell Jordan Fleenor and Charles Eugene Fleenor, Sr. and her sister Peggy Hill.

She is survived by her 3 children and 6 grandchildren. Beverly Kastel (Dave), and their 3 boys, Samuel, William and Mitchell. Byron Burger (Sarah) and their daughter Kayleigh. Amy Bowers (Travis) and their children Joshua and Jade. She is also survived by her sister Belinda Childress and her brother Charles E. Fleenor, Jr. both of Bristol, TN.

Shirley graduated from King College in Bristol, VA and taught high school history for several years before becoming a devoted mother. She was a quiet and thoughtful soul who loved God, her family and was a loyal friend. She loved to read, cook and bake and watch football. Her family was the center of her world. She enjoyed being a part of her children’s activities and volunteering in their schools and later her grandchildren’s. She loved celebrating birthdays and holidays, especially Christmas.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1p on January 3, 2023 at Mt Vernon Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel in Glen Allen, VA.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
