Charlotte Fanelli

Charlotte Christine (née Thompson) Fanelli, 81, of Chesterfield, Virginia went home to be with the Lord on August 4, 2022. Charlotte is with God and heaven is her home. She was preceded in death by husbands James Maybush (2002) and Joseph Fanelli (2019), her parents Lewis and Edna Thompson (2002), and her grandson Jared Hunter (2010).

Charlotte was the first of four children born to Lewis and Edna Thompson on July 17, 1941. She graduated from John Marshall High School in Richmond, Virginia in 1959. Charlotte married John W. Hunter, III in 1963 and together they had four children. Admired for her speed and accuracy, Charlotte worked as a medical transcriptionist for many years. She served as a pianist at First Alliance Church of Port Charlotte, Florida and at Southside Alliance Church in Richmond, Virginia. Charlotte loved music, poetry and reading. Her hobbies included sewing, smocking, scrapbooking and collecting Cherished Teddies. Charlotte loved Christmas and many times started celebrating Christmas in July as carols filled her home. 

Charlotte is survived by her children, John W. Hunter, IV (Le’Anne), Wendi Burton (Joseph, III), Michael Hunter (Karen) and Amy Hunter. She is also survived by her brother Jerry (Eleanor) Thompson, and sisters Janet (Timothy) Hughes, and Laurie Surles. Charlotte was blessed with twelve grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren 

The family would like to thank the staff of Seaton (formerly Elmcroft) of Chesterfield for the loving care they provided Charlotte over the past two years. In addition, we would like to extend our gratitude to the entire interdisciplinary team at Suncrest Hospice, Richmond Virginia for the incredible end of life care and support you showered on our mother and family. 

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 17, 2022, at 2:00pm at the Chapel at First Baptist Church, 2739 Monument Avenue, Richmond, Virginia. A reception will follow the service in Flamming Hall.
