Gabrielle Martina Boyd
Our beloved Gabrielle Martina Boyd, affectionately known as Gabe, transitioned home on April 17, 2022, deciding that her exit date would also be the day known as Easter Sunday to the world.
Born on January 3, 1984, Gabrielle’s employment included Hermitage Assisted Living and serving as a long-time private caregiver to Mrs. Catherine Yevich. Her ability to inspire and encourage elders to enjoy the winter season of their lives was her God-given gift.
Gabrielle was preceded in death by her maternal aunt, Nicole Melissa Boyd, her maternal grandmother Dorothy Graves Boyd, and her paternal grandfather, Rodney Burke, Sr.
Those who will continue her legacy of serving the greater good include: three sons: Khalil Malachi Boyd, Queshawn Matthew Boyd, Jabriel Antonio Boyd and her beloved “dog son,” Santana ; parents: Timothy Andre Perry, Sr. and Glynis Boyd Hughes (Gary), bonus father, Gary Christopher Hughes, Sr., paternal grandparents: Shirley Perry- Richardson and Curtis Simmons, Jr.; maternal grandfather James H. Boyd; birth sisters: Janee Perry Wilson (Deion) and Mary Ellen K. Perry-Knox (Antonio); brothers Timothy Andre Perry, Jr. and Gary Christopher Hughes, Jr. as well as Gabrielle’s chosen siblings: Rodriguez Robinson and Nashea Simms. She also leaves maternal uncles and aunts she grew up with: Duane (Marquilla), Sean (Nicole), Tracy, and Victoria Boyd. Devoted family friends include Nicole and Danny Tunstall, Shakakia “Kiki” Hill, and godmother Joyce Johnson.
Gabrielle has a multitude of family and friends, from nieces to great-aunts, across Virginia and various states. The lives she impacted cannot be counted.
Gabrielle’s Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022 at 11 a.m., First Unitarian Universalist Church, 1000 Blanton Avenue, Richmond, Virginia, 23221. We encourage celebrants to wear sneakers, dress comfortably, and wear anything blue if possible. Masks are required for the service.
In lieu of flowers, we ask donations be made at the service for the Gabrielle M. Boyd Fund established to raise money for cancer research and awareness; any additional monies raised will go into a trust fund for her sons. Donations will also be accepted via Venmo via @glynis boyd receipts available upon request.
While we will always miss her in this life, we rejoice in knowing she is with God, the brightest star in Heaven.
