Paul Takagi
Paul Tetsuo Takagi was welcomed home into Heaven’s gate and Jesus’ arms Sunday, March 20, 2022. His passing from the constraints of this earthly body to his life eternal within the glory of God brings our family much comfort in knowing that we are not saying goodbye but rather “see you soon”. During Paul’s life journey he shared his faith of salvation in Jesus Christ and the possibility of life eternal in the glory of God and the availability to all who would believe and accept. This love of Christ was reflected in his work, through attending mission trips to Uganda, Puerto Rico and Jerusalem. He also found mission opportunities while working with many classes as a dance instructor for Country Style Dancers, playing the role of Santa for numerous occasions and organizations and his work in videography of Newport News Shipyard keel laying and dedications (over 20 years). His passion of television production for over 40 years started in Tucson, AZ at KZAZ then he moved to an NBC affiliate station (where he met Jan) then transitioned to CBN and WYAH in VA. If you were able to hear a story about his grandkids’ latest adventure or accomplishment, you know that they were the joy of his and Jan’s life. His children had the pleasure of his laughter, the comfort of his gentle hugs, the discipline of stern faith, the example of forgiveness and the promises of constant prayers sheltering us always. He loved his wife in a way that gave each of his daughters an example to search for in their spouses, to be loved as Christ loved the church.
Paul was predeceased by his parents, Henry and Margherita Takagi, brothers, Patrick (Ellen), Peter (Kim), John (Debbie) and sister, Celeste Kaechele (Doug). Paul is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Jan and his daughters, Amy Norman (Ken), Kimberly Steger (Andrew), Christina Anderson (Andy) and Jana Edwards (Travis), his grandchildren, Cody Norman (Kerri), Claire Steger, Matthew Anderson, Emily Norman, Grace Steger, Suzanne Anderson, Kaley Edwards and great grandchild, Wyatt Norman. His siblings, Michael Takagi, Mark Takagi (Nancy), Henry Takagi and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cloverhill Church, P.O. Box 6110, Midlothian, VA 23112. A celebration of Paul’s life will be held on April 15th at 11:00 am, at Cloverhill Church (12310 Bailey Bridge Road, Midlothian, VA 23112).
