Donna Costello

COSTELLO, Donna Mae Ernestine Oberg, 83, of North Chesterfield, VA, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 1, 2022. Donna was born on August 10, 1938 in Chicago, IL to Swedish immigrants Ernest and Hilda (Erickson) Oberg.  After growing up in the Andersonville neighborhood of Chicago, Donna attended Northwestern University and married her loving husband, James (Jim) Francis Costello at Holy Name Cathedral.  Donna and Jim moved to Norman, OK and celebrated the birth of their daughter, Kathleen, before settling in Gaithersburg, MD where they welcomed their son, Edward.  Donna and Jim lived in Maryland for over thirty years where Donna was a Certified Public Accountant, Financial Advisor, and co-owner of Costello-Huddy Chartered.  Donna retired to North Chesterfield enjoying her grandchildren, traveling with friends, and volunteering at Christ the King Lutheran Church.  Donna will be forever remembered for her kind nature, patience, endearing sense of humor, and Swedish smorgasbords.  Donna never met a dog she didn’t love or a stranger who wasn’t worth a chat. 

Donna is preceded in death by her husband, Jim, her parents, Ernest and Hilda Oberg, and her siblings, Elmer Oberg and Astrid Oberg Sullins. Donna is survived by her children, Kathleen (Scott) Soukup and Edward (Katherine) Costello, and her 12 grandchildren of whom she was very proud: Seamus, Colin and Maggie Costello; and AJ, Tim, Cecilia, Theo, Edward, Quentin, Thomas, William and Genevieve Soukup. A Memorial Service will be held 11am, Saturday, March 5, at Christ the King Lutheran Church.
