Deborah “Debby” Bailey (Goode)
Mrs. Deborah “Debby” Bailey (Goode) passed away peacefully in her home on February 14, 2022, in Highland Springs, Virginia at the young age of 67 after a seven-year battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Heaven gained a true sweetheart this Valentine’s Day.
Debby is survived by her loving husband of 43 years, Doug Bailey, and daughters, Buni Neighbors (Poggie Neighbors) and Allyson Farkas (Bryan Farkas). Debby was known as Nanny to Nick Neighbors, Arden Neighbors, Tyler Farkas, Drew Farkas and Madison Farkas. Her grandchildren were the light of her life.
Debby was born on September 26, 1954, in Richmond, Virginia to Stuart and Katherine Goode. It was through her mother that she also spent much of her time in Anderson, South Carolina where she was surrounded by a huge family of aunts, uncles and cousins that she remained close with throughout her life. Debby graduated from Highland Springs High School in 1972 and was proud to call herself a Springer. After being set up on a blind date with another Springer, Debby and Doug fell in love immediately and were married after only knowing each other for six weeks on July 21, 1978. They had the quintessential love story. Her husband’s devotion was indescribable. Throughout their 43 years, they took advantage of what life offered and celebrated every day in being together. Debby and Doug had fun! In Debby’s long fight with illness, it was her devoted husband who took care of her every minute of every day until her passing.
As many would say, Debby was the hardest working person they knew. Just like the fierce love she had for her family and friends, she poured her heart into taking care of ophthalmic patients and built lifelong relationships with her peers along the way. Debby also loved her Sunday School class at New Bridge Baptist Church. It gave her great purpose and perspective that she continually shared with her family.
A Celebration of Life has been scheduled for Saturday, February 26th at 1:00 PM at New Bridge Baptist Church (5701 Elko Road, Sandston, VA 23150), with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Debby’s life. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Alzheimer’s Association. The family would like to especially thank At Home Care & Hospice for there dedication, compassion, and care for Debby in her final days.

Even though I hadn’t seen her for a while, I loved that girl! Debbie was always so cheerful and positive. So sad she is gone and I can only imagine the grief everyone around her feels. My heart goes out to you all.
