James Lee Harris
James Lee Harris of Hague, Va passed away on Wednesday February 9, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loved ones.
James was born on July 5, 1938 on Cloverland Farm in Thoroughfare, Va to the late George and Addie Harris. He was proceeded in death by his sister Imelda (Bootsie) Presgraves and nephew Wade Presgraves.
James was a friend to many, a stranger to none, a helper to anyone in need, a devoted husband and an absolutely great father. James graduated from Osborne High School where he studied television and radio repair. In his early life he worked as a mechanic, equipment operator, carpenter and even a short order cook. He served in the Virginia National Guard for several years. He eventually found his way into a career in telecommunications. After working for Continental Telephone he and 2 partners founded Independent Telephone Services in the early 1980s and 20 years later it came time to sell and retire. During his retirement he spent his time doing things he always loved hunting and fishing and developed a few new hobbies golfing, woodworking and flying drones, playing on his iPad and mostly spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his wife of 39 years E. Marie Harris; former wife Nancy Harris: children Marcie Ehrmantraut (Eddie), Donna Shaw (Edward), Melinda Brownell (Steve) and Daryl Harris (Tammy); grandchildren David Fry (Becca), Brooke Shaw, Keith Stallard (Yenny), Allison Lynskey (Taylor), James Harris (Nicollette) and Stephanie Brownell; 5 great grandchildren; nephews Virgil (Butch) and Max Presgraves; 4 stepchildren Brenda Kelly (Gary), Barbara , Acie and Randy Watts; 3 step grandchildren; 3 step great grandchildren and 2 step great great grandchildren.
In lieu of gifts and flowers donations can be made to a charity of your choice.
A celebration of life will be planned at a later date.
