Silas Griffith

Silas Griffith (Bops), 86, of Petersburg, VA passed away at MCV hospital on February 9, 2021.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Shade and Myrtie Hess Griffith of Honaker; brother, Clarence Griffith (Shirley Griffith) of Ohio; sisters Sarah Barton and Maudie Street of Honaker.  He is survived by his wife, Betty Griffith of Petersburg; daughter, Donna Herndon and husband Wayne of Richmond; two grandsons Mason Herndon and wife Sarah of Chantilly and Troy Herndon and wife Katie of Midlothian; two great granddaughters, Adeline and Isla; one great grandson due in August, MJ; and brothers Robert Griffith; Birchard Griffith and wife Anna Louise of Ohio and sister Judy Bailey of Honaker; and numerous nieces and nephews. 

He attended Southside Baptist Church in Petersburg.  He worked for Firestone (Honeywell) for over 35 years.  He never met a stranger and loved to talk to any and everyone.  He loved gardening, sports, and bird watching.   His pride and joy was spending time with his two great granddaughters.

The family would like to thank Dr. Todd Gehr for many years of care and friendship and the staff at MCV hospital for their compassion and care.

Due to COVID 19,  the family will have a service at a later date.
